The Gift
The Gift
“Shake, shake, shake. Rattle, rattle, rattle” was the sound I made when figuring out what was inside the present with starry wrapping paper with a black background. I certainly wondered to myself “What could be in this present?” So I did what I did at the very start, “Shake, shake, shake. Rattle, rattle, rattle.”

Gymnastics Explanation
Gymnastics is part of the Olympic games and is all about athleticism when competitors perform in five different types of gymnastics. Women compete in Artistic, rhythmic, acrobatic, aerobic and trampoline. The only types of gymnastics that men can participate in are Acrobatic, Trampoline, Aerobic and Artistic. Each type of gymnastics has different rules and regulations
The Judges give the scores to those who are the best. There'll be four things the Judges will be looking for. Form, Height and Distance, Stuck landing and Individual and Routine creativity. No mistakes are the key to this because if you make one small mistake, that could affect your score and not get either a bronze, silver or even gold medal. You’ll just be sent somewhere below third place.
Rules are the main concern in nearly everything. The moves have to be difficult and not too simple like a cartwheel, judges will start scoring when you salute them with your arms raised at the back of you, when you’ve finished then do the same thing you did when you started to let the judges know you’ve finished and the scoring will be done.
My favourite gymnast is Mckayla Maroney, she is one of the USA gymnastics team members. Her family is very athletic in many different sports like her father is a quarterback, Mckayla use to participate in three different sports, soccer, ice skating and tennis. Her favourite subject in school is English, favourite foods are sushi, strawberries and mangoes. She has been in sixteen different gymnastics competitions and became a golden winner at the P&G Championships in Hartford, Conn last year.
Gymnastics is a physical sport and require a lot of practice to do this. It is nearly impossible to be able to do what they do, ask a professional gymnast or coach for training and competing in these events. The events for different competitors, different rules and regulations and creativity make gymnastics fun to watch.

Independant writing - Week 6
“I remember if it was yesterday”
The day my grandmother past away at a retirement home was quite a sad moment in my life, I couldn't believe that she was gone. After that everyone rode in cars to Manurewa Marae while my grandmother was being carried in an hearse, inside the hearse was a coffin and inside the coffin was my grandmother: Eileen Pinky Haumaha.
China
This is my poster about China. Go ahead and check it out.
Telling where
Telling where
Kids go to the beach. Racing across the yellow, hot sand. Crabs scuttling sideways, shells buried in the sand and kids making castles. Swimming near the salty sea playing all day.

Holiday Reading-Rewrite the ending
Coraline
Now that the other mother was gone forever she can never get out. Of course.... SHE can not get out. Her hand got out and Coraline saw it. she needed somewhere to hide the key so she won’t get out(except for her hand that's already out), she thought and thought until she got an idea. Coraline went outside going the direction where the well with her blanket so Coraline can drop the key, the Beldams hand was following her quietly as an mouse. When the hand gazed at Coraline dropping the key in the well but then suddenly The Beldams hand pranced out from the side and tried to get the key but Coraline tricked it and the hand fell into the well. Tomorrow there was a small party with her neighbours.

Holiday Reading Report
Holiday Reading Report
During the Holidays, the classes Rm 6 and 9 had to read three novels where ever they are to improve on our results.
At home I read three of my books Called Thea Stilton: The Spanish Dance Mission, Play Dead: A Dog and his girl mysteries and The Sisters Grimm. The first book is about when the Thea Sisters (a group of friends) visit Spain to see some friends from there, But their Aunts fan was stolen and is the key to a secret Treasure. Can they figure the mystery out before it’s too late.
The second story is about two sisters and their town that live with fairytale characters where really strange stuff happen, The Grimms keep the balance between humans and fairy tales and are out solving mysteries but in this story it’s terrible, something weird is going on and students are disappearing, Will these sisters be able to solve the mystery before the tale is done.
After that I went to my sisters house and read Play Dead: A Dog and his Girl Mysteries by Jane B. Mason about Cassie a girl with a taste for mystery and Dodge a retired police dog who have been solving cases too find out the truth, in this book the city ward is missing and everyone wants his fortune, Cassie’s suspicious about the girlfriend who keeps getting mentioned and the staff who work for the ward, this book is great because they “WON'T” roll over.
That is the end of my report, thank you for reading it.
Stars
The stars gleam in the night
like fireflies so bright.
I’ve wondered what they are
shining in darkness so far.
Making constellations
.
Both are full of magical mystery
but stars and fireflies are how you see
Nice Work
Pretty Flowers
My sister said it’s boring using pretty
try other words like exquisite, pleasing,
fetching, foxy, fair, ravishing, or even pulchritudinous -
the choice is like a labyrinth
but never ever use the word pretty.

My trip to the Panmure library
My class and I had a visit to the panmure library and met Mama Piri, Tau, from the Museum and Ruth from the Library.
First we were told a story about a friendship between a rat and an octopus who then broke apart and why octopuses are so dumb,
Next we had to colour in some pictures of the rat or the octopus and four of us got a prize,
Finally we heard about hula skirts, Mama Piri told us how they got dye and we had a bit of a competition and we made hula skirt strips, then some of us wore the hula skirts when we were done.
My favourite part was hearing the story about the rat and the octopus because it was very interesting.
Art Blurb-Ducati
This my transformation art.
It uses 3 media-Pastel, Crayon & Dye and Paint.
It shows 3 different transformations:
translation is the first, rotation is the second and third is reflection.
I really like the contrasting colours on my artwork.
Next time I would maybe use different colours.

Maths
My learning intention was learning my mental strategies,
My activity was the jump strategy in subtraction,
It was easy and confusing because one side of the worksheet half the questions were easy and the other half was confusing.

My Artwork voicethread
This my artwork name that made myself with a little help, Hope you like it.
My I am a Seagull poem
I am a Seagull, flying in the sky
flying and flying, way up high,
I halt on the sand hoping for a rest,
but every time someone’s near I’ll do what I do best.
To fly away over the sea
and laugh a lot with glee,
I wait and wait thinking where to land,
but then I see something, something that’s called seaweed.
And I see something bright, brighter than the sun,
a seashell that has many colours and brightly, brightly shun.
I grabbed the shell and flew away
hoping to keep it close and never let go someway.

Waitangi day explanation
Why do we celebrate Waitangi day
It is to celebrate the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi(which is also a celebration to)
The treaty was signed Growing numbers of British migrants arrived in New Zealand in the late 1830s, and there were plans for extensive settlement. Around this time there were large-scale transactions with Maori for land, unruly behaviour from some settlers and signs that the French were interested in annexing New Zealand.
Waitangi day is celebrated with maori cultural performances, speeches from Māori and Pakeha (European) dignitaries, and a naval salute are all part of the annual activities at Waitangi.
There are lots of ways to celebrate Waitangi day and lots of foods to eat that is delicious and nutritious with great ingredients.
