Choosing a Flag

We had to do oral language task as a 4-3-2-1 task (4 minutes to speed read, 3 minutes to share choice, 2 minutes to share with someone else, 1 minute to to talk about their choices). We did this based on our flag choice for the new New Zealand. For my choice I chose the black-and-white Silver Fern because it tells me that their will be history behind it all

Dear T4 and T1 me

Dear Term Four Ducati Hopefully you’ve done exactly what I said, if you don’t remember which you will. These are the goals that I want you to do, get at least one certificate, finish all your work on time, try to get more than fifty posts, and that is all. But by doing these things remember, first of all do your best at everything that you like doing, secondly don’t get distracted by anything or anyone, and for the last, focus on your work and put everything that is learning onto your blog. Have you done what I said? Did they come true? Am I happy so far? If not then I’m not mad at you. Your year in 2015 might be the best in your life so far. To reflect on personal goals set in Term 1 Dear Term One Me By looking at the letter, I see that I haven’t fulfilled a few of your wishes. But I did finish work on time, I did get at fifty posts but not more, sorry I haven’t gotten a certificate yet. But not everything can be achieved in a moments notice. So I’m sorry you feel disappointed but it was the best I could do. And for my personal goals? I didn’t really have any, wasn’t sure what it could’ve been. I may have been away a while more than most people, but I have done the best I could. I have concentrated on my work throughout the year, but at the end of the day you are happy and all ready for the new year! Hope good things come to you! From Term Four You

Writing Sample with critical friend

Today I partnered up with for each of us to comment on each other's sample. We each have the job of being a Critical friend. Critical friends help find the faults in our writing: Like words that don't make sense, missing letters, and sentences that need to be fixed. To do all this we used a writing toolbox to critique for each other on different levels from 1-7. The sections are all different; there are punctuation, vocab, organisation, sentence structure, structure and language, and ideas.

Science

Science at Tamaki College was very stimulating. The year 7/8 learnt about the four main features of science also known as the strands: they are living, material, physical, planet earth and beyond. We did a tally chart for the people who had the most favorite food choices, I chose chocolate sundae. But overall, the day was great

Hi everyone, what I want to talk about is music. Think “Do you think there's a reason for music?” Why shouldn’t there be a reason? It’s the most rhythmical part of us and has it’s way with life. Music is known all over the world in every country, continent, and even every island

But what I mostly want to talk about is “Why music is truly important to us”

Just because everyone doesn’t express it, does that mean it’s not important?

Music is the best way to express yourself, and how you feel about who you are. There is never anything embarrassing about music, because it’s the of the most meaningful part of life and can make a person feel a certain emotion based on what and how the song is, sounds, and feels

I love music, and it means so much to others. Music has it’s way to send messages to you in ways you can and can’t understand. It gives you different feelings like happiness or sadness. Makes you think about anything; the choices you’ve made, the people you’ve thought of, it could be anything

Music has so many activities in it: Instrumental, dance, even vocals. You're favourite choice of song is based on the emotional attachment. Songs that are happy lift your spirits and give a different perspective about life. A research group called Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (FRMI) has beliefs that music activates emotional, motor, and creative areas of the brain

Music is very, very, very special to me. Could anyone be able to play, sing, write, or dance to music

Well, yes. Anyone can learn, and in many ways, you could pay for lessons, or if you have a favourite song in your mind, you can sing to it, dance to it, you can even play an instrument to it

There are many reasons why music is important, so many I don’t think even we know about them. Everything has music, even some animals: For example, the hummingbird, the wolf, and many more that have, and will be discovered. So my point is, music can be heard everywhere and from everything, I hope one day you find your spark for music

I have gained 1st place and got a gold trophy, practicing all my division tables

I have finished the entire game of Sketch's World and got a very high score

As you can see I've gotten 92% for accuracy and only one missed question

Writing Framework

Should New Zealand change its official flag?


In my opinion, I don’t really know what to choose. Have you made a decision? Well I haven’t, and I don’t want to be cruel, but I don’t want to choose the wrong side. So I don’t know what to do.

1834, 1840, and 1903 are all the times New Zealand has changed the flag. But, the flag is still similar, so we have still kept the honour that our soldiers have fought for our freedom, it’s making my decision hard. Yet about 5% of the world’s flags have not been changed, so the rest of the countries have changed their flag.

I am unsure, and apprehensive about my decision. The flag is a symbol of honour so it would be hard to give up, and  it’s making my decision hard for me. If you're unsure about a decision, then you know how I feel. Everyone is trying to make me “Think like them” and choose their side to be on. Thinking about my decision is so hard, considering that I am very picky(I have a hard time making a decision).

Would you choose changing the flag? Or Would you choose not changing the flag? Well I just don’t know. Neither side is wrong, yet neither side is right. My decision will come in time, not now, tomorrow, the next, or the next, but it will come.

I just don’t have a decision to make, because the idea of the flag changing is alright, but what about not changing the flag? Well could I ask you one thing?  “Do you think I’m right?”

Dear Miss Latoia

Thank you for accompanying the year 7/8 to camp. We are all full of gratitude that you came with us. You have helped and gave fun to everyone that went to camp, because you and Mr M hosting the Panmure Bridge X Factor on Friday the 15th of May. You said that I had a great voice and you gave me some Confidence about being what I’ve always wanted. Miss Latoia, For everything you’ve done with us. Camp was the best and with the Idea of the concert and you two hosting was the best. You two should make you're own live TV talent show. We hope we see you again on X Factor NZ.

Nana’s Unveiling

The rain shot down like bullets on my way to a marae, I saw nearly everyone there. I saw family I knew, and family I didn’t. Everyone were doing something, grandparents, aunts, and uncles were talking. And some of the cousins were playing around. It was so happy. And the rain died out.

But some light have the darkest places. Everyone was still a little sad that my nana died. But some didn’t like mentioning it. Until suddenly, a loud bell sound rang, that meant that food’s ready, I bet everyone’s so hungry, even I was. We all chowed down in the eating room on some hangi for breakfast, so fulling. I was in the marae just lying down feeling sleepy(everyone had their own mattress in the marae) and then, I fell asleep.

When I woke up I could see everyone sleeping, I thought How long have I been asleep for?  There was a clock hanging in the marae, but I couldn’t tell time so I went back to sleep.

The next morning I was woken up by someone, I can’t remember who though, the person said “Wake up, we need to go to the cemetery.” I said “What for?” Until I remembered that we’re visiting nana today. I got up as slow as I can go, but was pulled up by my sister. Everyone walked to the cemetery. Some were crying, and some didn’t want to cry, but we walked until we got to the cemetery. We all gave kisses to nanas Tombstone and my uncle sang He Honere.

When we came back we also all had to go home. Best day of my life. Rest In Peace nana.
